Retwist & Retighten is an in-person practical training focused on maintaining dreadlocks during regrowth using the correct method at the correct time. This session looks closely at how different maintenance methods affect scalp health, comfort, and the long-term integrity of dreadlocks. Many issues such as thinning, soreness, weak roots, or breakage develop not because dreadlocks are fragile, but because maintenance is applied automatically rather than intentionally. You’ll learn how to assess the hair and scalp before maintenance, then choose and apply the most appropriate method — including palm rolling, interlocking, and crochet for maintenance and refinement. We also introduce locksmithing principles to help you understand structure, tension control, and how maintenance decisions affect dreadlock stability over time. The aim is confident, informed maintenance — not rushed retwists, over-tightening, or habits that create future damage.
